Six breakfasts, ranked by surfers
We asked the dawn-patrol table to score the breakfast options out of ten. They took it far more seriously than we expected.

Founder & head coach
The rules were simple: you had to have surfed first, and you had to justify your score out loud. Six dishes, eleven judges, one argument about eggs that is still going.
6. Fruit and yoghurt
Fresh, fast, and nobody’s favourite. “It is what you eat when you are late.” Score: 5.
3. Amlou toast
Amlou is almond, argan oil and honey ground into a paste. On warm bread after two hours in cold water it is almost unfair. Score: 8.
1. Msemen with honey
The flaky square flatbread, cooked to order by Fatima, folded around honey and butter. Unanimous. One judge asked if it could be the whole package. Score: 10.
